Heli Hike – Walter Peak Station (Flight 403)Start the day with a fantastic scenic helicopter ride across Lake Wakatipu and take in the views of Cecil Peak and Walter Peak Station. Land in the heart of the Afton Burn with your guide to begin your gentle 11km hike. As you make your way down the valley enjoy the views and sunshine of this beautiful north facing hike overlooking the fertile farm land of Walter Peak station. En route enjoy a brew of tea and a snack as you try to imprint in your memory the magnificent views up and down the lake. An easy hike down the valley brings you onto the station itself. From here roam through the lush paddocks and onto the unsealed road leading to the old homestead of Walter Peak Station and your trip home on the TSS Earnslaw.
Central Otago Wine Explorer (Flight 405)From Queenstown we head east, following the mighty Kawarau River into Central Otago gold mining and wine country. From the air, view the tortured yet beautiful landscape sculpted by miners in their sluicing for gold from more than 100 years ago. More recently the rich soil has been transformed into vineyards and is world renowned for producing premium quality wines. Arriving at Mt Difficulty Winery in Bannockburn, enjoy wine tasting and lunch at a comfortable pace before returning to Queenstown via the Nevis mountain range to Kingston, then follow Lake Wakatipu back to Queenstown. A scenic alpine landing will also take place on the return flight to capture some truly memorable photographs. This flight also makes a great alternative on days when weather prevents us from flying to Milford Sound.
